The external examiner asked us to enhance the digital literacy of our students.
Eportfolio was selected as a tool for student teachers to enhance their digital skills. Using this platform allowed student teachers to practice using technology submission, collation and assessment of work. By engaging with technology in these way student teachers built their IT skills in pedagogically sound ways.
Getting to grips with new ways of working is not always easy for the diverse range of students studying on the full and part time programmes. Additional introductory and follow up support sessions have been introduced to ensure students rapidly build their confidence in using such digital platforms.
Evidence of the positive impact of these systems is found in the quality of the eportfolios student teachers now succeed in building over their programme of study.
